Draughtsman

draughtsman-square-whiteI visited Draughtsman today. It’s a new sales event focusing on architectural design in particular. There’s around 20-25 merchants in the event. I’ve taken quite a few pictures  but must admit not everything piqued my interest enough to buy.

If you want to go and have a look, then here’s the SLURL for Draughtsman (which I love – the sim is called Time Travel!)

So, what is there in the first round?

Details and SLURLs (my comments in italics):

One Décor – Wine & Beer Fatpack – LI57 total, L$1750 – I bought this, beautifully detailed set (and it includes the shabby cabin as well as the décor).
cheakypea – Wander Sofa Set – LI43 total, L$1050 (PG) L$1350 (Ad)
Wazzer Works – Industrial Set – LI17+ total, L$1050 (total, sold separately)
ninety (MP Link) – Tacos Place, LI35, L$250 total – I bought this as well, I don’t have anywhere to use it at the moment but I’m sure that I’ll find somewhere!
ionic – A Strange Day – LI9, L$400 – I didn’t buy these as I have a lot of sheds, these are very pretty though and only 9 LI!
Astralia – Victorian Greenhouse – LI30, L$299 – A detailed and beautiful build, I currently use the simpler Provincial Greenhouse by [DDD] but if I were to create a Victorian themed parcel then this would certainly be considered!
ChiC Buildings – Sunrise Beachhouse – LI86 (+extra for footpath & lighting), L$950 (+100) – I had high hopes for this one as it’s beautiful outside. Inside however I found to be quite plain, only one room and a really thin mezzanine. The doors were also very low for a tall Avi like me.
Meshworx – Rodeo Shop D – LI124, L$3200 – For quite a small floorplan on only two floors this feels like a high price and prim count. It’s beautifully detailed though.
epia – Downtown Bricks – LI46 (inc Doors), L$1250 – This is a rather simplistic store, single floor (although there are other floors, but only accessible by TP, with very low ceilings), not what I would usually expect from epia.

draughtsman_019
Sayo – Birdcage Gazebo – LI40, L$400 – A high LI for a gazebo, however detailed, I decided this one wasn’t for me.
Galland Homes – Hanover Barn – LI73, L$495 – I was really excited by this, thinking that it would be a home, unfortunately it’s a standard barn – again, beautifully constructed but a mezzanine or other use for the high ceiling would be nice.
Pillows – Tiny Little Home – LI??, L$300 – I tried to find the LI, but no ability to select the item in world (it’s in multiple parts) and no info at all on the signs, it’s a pretty and small build.
Stockholm&Lima – Community Table – LI9, L$300-L$1800 – I like, I tried to buy the basic version as Ethan Explores’ new parcel is in a G Rated sim, but it didn’t let me buy it. I’m going to have to pop to the store to grab a copy.
Violetility – Quaint Cottage – LI50, L$325 – Less a cottage and more of a large shed, this is a super detailed distressed building and I love the string light details…
Big Bully – Grid Pavillion – LI26 (inc Furniture), L$?? (the Buy Now item didn’t work) – this is a really interesting and unusual build and I really like the concept.
Panavia – Fagas Winter Trees – LI10, L$199 – It’s a (relatively high LI) tree, pretty, but I wouldn’t want to waste the extra prims that I could easily save. Then again, I don’t build woods.
Blue Sky – Propeller Set – LI Variable, L$ Varies – This is a gorgeous set. I really wanted to buy more but I couldn’t work out how it would fit in any of my aesthetics, so I just went for the coat rack and pictures. 😉
Newchurch – Alpha Industrial Dining Set – LI15, L$375 – It’s pretty, but too high an LI for what amounts to a picnic set with a screen in my opinion.

Menstuff Hunt Fall 2016 – Part 2

As I mentioned yesterday, the last ever Menstuff hunt is running now until the end of November. I’ve been trying on some more of my hoard today and thought I should show you some more of the swag that you could grab for free or L$1!

I’ve carried on with using my Exposeur posing scenes as I really love them. If you’re interested, yesterday’ was The Elevator and today is Pipes. They don’t have an inworld store any more but you can still find them on the Marketplace.

So, without further ado… Here’s the next 10 items from the hunt:

Menstuff Hunt Fall 2016 – Part 1

This month marks the last ever Menstuff hunt. So if you’re interested in going on a hunt where you know that everything is designed for men to wear then you’d better hurry up! I’m a bit late posting this (which is why I’ve opted for a short 10 item post today) – You’ve only got to the 30th November to complete it!

There’s a lot of different styles of jeans in this hunt, so if you’re looking to update your lower torso then I’m sure you’ll find something of interest! Don’t worry the tops covered too. In fact I thing you can completely redress your Avi with something that interest you more than twice over.

As always, the photos aren’t great quality, because I’m not a photographer and don’t have all the tools. But, despite the quality, if you’re still interested then head across to the Menstuff Hunt Hints website and get collecting!

Autumn Days

Autumn is my favourite time of the year. The leaves, the weather (rain – I love the rain!) and Hallowe’en. This year I’ve been playing around a lot in my garden (feel free to visit if you want – you’re welcome to make use of the facilities!), and I think that I’ve made a good way to show off some of the best of SL. So here’s my standard garden:

I also set up a bonfire for the 5th of November and a Remembrance Day monument for 11th November and Remembrance Sunday.

Customer Service? Not in SL!

WARNING – This is a complaint about a clothes retailer in SL. The conclusion to it is, if you want to find good quality, cheap clothes and receive great service – go to AdN Designs instead!

brii-protest_001Back in May I wrote about Brii. I was impressed by Brianna Pass’ designs and her fantastic prices. I joined her group so that I could get updates and see when new male clothes were released. She sent out regular notifications, mostly for women, but every so often she’d send out an update for men.

Over the last couple of days her group hit 33,000 members and she (quite rightly) wanted to celebrate. So, for the last 24 hours I received three batches of notifications about the free gifts that were available. There was one notification for each gift. And each and every gift was for women. That’s thirty notifications in 24 hours, none of which were relevant to me. So I called this out in the group chat…

[16:06] Ethan leSabre (ethan.lesabre): Could I ask how many times we’re going to be spammed with the 33k members messages please? Especially as not a single one of the celebratory gifts are for men.

I received a reply from another group member informing me that there was an x button in chat if I wasn’t happy. So I replied: I’m fully aware of that USERNAME DELETED, however that’s the third batch of notices that I’ve had to x anywhere from 7-10 messages from Brii.

The same member of the group replied that Brii was the owner and that she could do it 10 times if she wants. I replied with what I thought was a fair and polite response: And we’re the customers, we can express an opinion. And notices line up while you’re offline, I would be fine with Messages in chat, but these are notifications.

At which point I was summarily kicked from the group. No warning, no discourse, just:

[16:14] Brianna Pass (brianna.passiflora): You have been ejected from ‘** Brii Underground Wear **’ by BRIANNA Passiflora.

The conversation from this point demonstrates the disdain that she shows towards her customers and is the point where I became more impolite (actual text “conversation” in bold):

[16:14] Ethan leSabre (ethan.lesabre): Ejected, for an opinion?
[16:14] Brianna Pass (brianna.passiflora): I’m **Brii Underground Wear** Designer. Send me your NC. Thank You !
[16:15] Brianna Pass (brianna.passiflora): I solved your problem
brii-protest_001[16:17] Ethan leSabre (ethan.lesabre): That’s fine by me. If you get the chance to review your payment history and can search for me you will find that I have spent quite a lot of money in your store in the past – hence why I joined your group. So you’ve also solved the problem of me deciding where to spend my L$. You could have, instead, maybe taken on board the feedback.

So, of course, I received a very reasoned and well considered response:

[16:17] Brianna Pass (brianna.passiflora): MUTED

To conclude, as I said at the start of this post – if you’re looking for cheap, well made, fun clothes – then Adabetha Nayl not only has a better range for men (240 pieces at the moment compared to Brii’s 113), but also doesn’t clog your notifications up with a million notices. So go to AdN Designs instead! 🙂

Time to Deco(c)rate

Charmed Archway & Fence set by Raven Wood (LI13 & 2ea)

So, after the success of the SwagBagsMadPea have released another mystery crate. It’s the same price as the SwagBag (L$1,500 before release, L$3,000 after release) and it’s filled with great stuff from some of SL’s Top Designers.

This month’s theme was “November Rain” and the designers really ran away with the theme, designing everything from gazebos and umbrellas to set pieces and furniture to cuddle up and watch the rain through the window from. They’re all absolutely beautiful, however – one word of warning, quite a few of them will eat up your extra prim allowance that LL have provided us with!

Anyway, let’s get some links to the designers:

SwagBag November

So, the November SwagBag came out a few days ago and I completely forgot to open it. I rather like this one, it’s not my usual type of purchase, but it works really well with the new look that I’m giving to the Ethan Explores site.(SLURL)

The building is the Dark Corporation Boardwalk Shop, but everything else is from this month’s SwagBag. The theme for this month was Man Cave (and I think that you’ll understand why it’s not my usual thing). And there wasn’t much clothing in the box.

There was however a fantastic selection of décor from some really big names (you’ll see who in a second!) And I must admit, although I loved the others, I think I’m going to get more use out of this one than any of the others. The items aren’t just beautiful, they have some fantastic poses attached to them, not just the usual sitting, there’s a lot of longing available in this set! But first, let’s get the pictures:

Drot – Harvest Hair, Breath – Man cave knit shirt, Etham – Lazy Days Pants, 22769 [Bauwerk] Mancave Lounger chair & sidetable,  Thor Mancave set with fridge, sofa, coffee table and more, and last but not least, Pewpew! Bat Bed and Flag.

Hallowe’en Horror Story

halloween-horror-story_002MadPeas, the people who run the fantastic SwagBags and the Ghost Town made a little mini-game for Hallowe’en. And I have to tell you that it was really creepy. In particular the Children’s Bedroom scene (put your headphones on and make sure that you have the sound turned up) and the Bathroom with it’s surprise the genuinely had me squeak in shock!

It’s a really well made game, with beautiful scenes, fantastically laid out. You need to join the MadPea group – but believe me that’s worth a group slot. The chat alone is fun, friendly, irreverent and welcoming. You then pick up a HUD at the starting point which asks you a question at the start of each scene, this is to help decide what type of Hallowe’en Trope you are.

You’re looking for something that’s out of place in all the settings (apart from the Psych Ward – which is just sneaky!) The only clue I’ll give you is that I haven’t seen a TV anywhere apart from on the Psych Ward…

Anyway, you’ll be wanting some pics, so here you go!

And for anyone who’s interested, I came out as a Nerdy Geek, so of course, I had to dress appropriately!

Remember, Remember the Fifth of November

remember-rememberThis poem is very well known, not just because of the film “V for Vendetta”. It’s a poem about the Gunpowder Plot, when Guy Fawkes and a group of Catholics planned to overthrow (Protestant) King James VI and the government.

They were going to do this by blowing up the House of Lords during the State Opening of Parliament. The plan was actually led by a man called Robert Catesby. Guy Fawkes was the explosives expert and was going to set off the explosion and then escape to the continent.

The plot was thwarted and the group arrested and put to death. Since then Brits have celebrated Guy Fawkes/Bonfire Night every year on 5th November. For the first couple of years this was by law, although now it’s just a tradition.

To celebrate it in SL I wasn’t able to find a guy (I have an old no-copy one made in the days of flexi prims, but that’s not great on a bonfire). So I asked in the Homestuff Group (it’s a great group if you’re looking for help and advice on Decoration) and had a few suggestions I opted for the Fyreworks Bonfire – L$250 (It’s NC I’m afraid) with the Bad Katz Mesh Scarecrow – L$145, Land of Nodd Mesh Guy Fawkes Mask (Free) and the Bad Katz Fireworks (L$400).

I think it turned out OK…
