After the Apocalypse

After the invasion Demorgan fell. The few survivors managed to eke out an existence, throwing together whatever junk they could find. Making a life from the remnants of the world.

As was to be expected, out of the power vacuum rose a number of organisations to control the thoughts and minds of what was left of the population. Big Brother (the surveillance state), PsyCorps (mentally enhanced individuals with various psychokinetic and telepathic abilities) and the conquerors, well armed with advanced technology and weaponry.

Like a cockroach, LibertyCorp survived, running its businesses as it always had. And yet, there were those who persisted, the resistance created a number of underground tunnels and organised. Their symbol, a white tree, was a way to mark the entrances to their tunnels. And parts of the sewer network remain intact if you need to get around quickly and unseen… 🙂

Call Me an Uber

Here are the first couple of things that I just had to buy at Uber (SLURL) – the monthly event. I don’t usually visit as the men’s clothing is pretty limited. But the furniture and buildings can be breathtaking. This month is one of those months, and here are my first couple of purchases that I just had to show you all.

100% Awesome

This is a post that I’ve been planning to write for way too long. You know those designers who just make an impact on you so much that you can remember what you first saw by them, as well as when and where? Well, one of those is Plato Novo.

Percent 04It was just after the tragedy of the Pulse Orlando attack and I was searching for the donation booth to put out for people. Looking through the MP listings I saw some dinky Orlando Sconces by a store called %Percent. Of course, I had to go and visit!

And I can honestly say that I don’t regret that decision one iota. Plato creates an eclectic mix of furniture and decor ranging from retro mid-20th C. through to upcycled and recycled household items.

Percent 05Her customer service is fantastic, she’s friendly, helpful and just a genuinely nice person. She has a subscription group rather than an SL one (which is ideal for me as I live at the limit of my group slots!) and doesn’t spam in any way shape or form.

Basically, %Percent is one of those stores that demonstrates all that’s good about Second Life. A passionate, imaginative and creative person making beautiful things at reasonable prices while also helping to create a feeling of community.

So why not go and visit her store?

SwagBag November

So, the November SwagBag came out a few days ago and I completely forgot to open it. I rather like this one, it’s not my usual type of purchase, but it works really well with the new look that I’m giving to the Ethan Explores site.(SLURL)

The building is the Dark Corporation Boardwalk Shop, but everything else is from this month’s SwagBag. The theme for this month was Man Cave (and I think that you’ll understand why it’s not my usual thing). And there wasn’t much clothing in the box.

There was however a fantastic selection of décor from some really big names (you’ll see who in a second!) And I must admit, although I loved the others, I think I’m going to get more use out of this one than any of the others. The items aren’t just beautiful, they have some fantastic poses attached to them, not just the usual sitting, there’s a lot of longing available in this set! But first, let’s get the pictures:

Drot – Harvest Hair, Breath – Man cave knit shirt, Etham – Lazy Days Pants, 22769 [Bauwerk] Mancave Lounger chair & sidetable,  Thor Mancave set with fridge, sofa, coffee table and more, and last but not least, Pewpew! Bat Bed and Flag.

This Town, Is Coming Like A Ghost Town

I visited a Ghost Town today. It’s been running since October last year and is a joint venture between MadPea and Firestorm Viewerto use as an introduction to new players. It’s quite dark and atmospheric, although you might want to play with your Environment Settings changed. I played using a Fixed Sky and the Funky Funky environment. But it’s always fun to just have a play around!

The story is quite self-explanatory, and you’ll be provided with an experience request for MadPea if you haven’t already given permissions in the past. If you have then you’ll get a new HUD attach itself to the top-left HUD slot and away you go. Basically, you’ve found your way to the last home of a serial killing fisherman called Big Jimmy. He killed 20 people and you’re going to play at being a ghostbuster.

Don’t worry about crossing the streams though, all you need to do is take a picture of them using your super, magic camera (which, for some unknown reason, pretends it’s a video camera). Once you’ve collected all 20 ghosts you’ll be given a key to the secret treasure room which has prizes by MadPea (obviously!), Sn@tch, LaPointe & BastChilde, Junk and more!
